In November last year, global pop overlords BTS announced plans to launch their own NFTs (non-fungible tokens). But the backlash from BTS fans (known as The Army) was swift and severe.
So What?
Despite the unhappiness voiced by The Army, BTS management HYBE have decided to continue on their path by announcing a launch date later in 2022. BTS fans voiced their concerns about the environmental impact of digital assets and the contradiction with the band’s recent speech at the UN, where they described climate change as “an important problem”. We wait to see whether The Army take action by voting with their wallets.
